Curtains FAQ

How To Clean Curtains

For general dust and dirt, use a vacuum cleaner with an appropriate head attachment to clean your curtains. For more stubborn stains, use a cloth with lukewarm soapy water to lightly wipe away the marks. Hot water can cause damage to fabrics, so be sure to check the temperature before applying.

How To Hang Curtains

Curtains should ideally hang 4-6 inches above the window and either at the sill, just below the sill, or to the floor, depending on the style you want to achieve.

How To Wash Net Or Voile Curtains

Curtains should be washed with care either by hand or using a delicate setting on a washing machine. Water temperature should not exceed 30 degrees during the wash. For best results, hang out curtains to drip dry rather than using the spin or drying settings on your machine.

Blinds FAQ

How To Clean Blinds

For general dust and dirt, use a vacuum cleaner with an appropriate head attachment to clean your blinds. For more stubborn stains, use a cloth with lukewarm soapy water to lightly wipe away the marks. Hot water can cause damage to fabrics, so be sure to check the temperature before applying.

How To Hang Roman Blinds

For blinds covering the entire window, ensure that blinds start to hang above the window reveal and fall to either the windowsill, or several inches past the frame at the bottom. When measure the width ensure several inches are also added to each side of the window opening so that they cover the area entirely.

For blinds within the window reveal, ensure that 1cm is left on each side when measuring the width, so that blinds don’t catch when lowered.

How To Remove Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are usually fixed using concealed screws behind the fabric. So start by drawing up your old roman blinds and pulling back the fabric to reveal either the screws, or a clip bracket.

If you’re working at height, ensure you have a pair of sturdy step ladders and a screwdriver to hand.

How To Fit Roman Blinds To UPVC Windows

Fitting Roman blinds to UPVC windows will require screwing the holding bracket into the frame and hanging blinds from the top. Make sure to measure the width of the window and leave 1cm either side of the reveal to ensure blinds don’t catch when being drawn.

Wallpapers FAQ

How To Remove Wallpaper

To remove wallpaper, you will need a steamer, a spiked roller, a scraping tool, and protective hand and eye equipment. Start by piercing the wallpaper with the spiked roller to ensure steam can seep underneath. Once the steamer has heated up, follow the instructions on the box. It is important to make sure you don’t leave the steamer in contact with the paper for too long or else it can damage the plaster work behind. After several seconds, use the scraper tool to gently remove the wallpaper from the plaster.

How To Hang Wallpaper

Most wallpapers hang vertically, unless the pattern requires you to apply horizontal. Make sure you have a clean, flat surface to apply paste to the back of your wallpaper, as well as a paste tool and bucket.

Measure the length from the ceiling to the floor and leave 10cm at the bottom, so you can trim to the perfect length. Cut the wallpaper and apply wallpaper paste to the back of the wallpaper.

When working at height, remember to use a sturdy pair of stepladders, ideally with 4 to 6 rungs.

How Much Wallpaper Do I Need

Measure the height of your room from top to bottom and the width of each wall you intend to apply paper to. Using the wallpaper dimensions, calculate how many full lengths you can apply per roll and remember that even partial strips will require a full length of paper.

We always recommend adding an extra 10% to your order to allow for mistakes.

How To Clean Wallpaper

Most wallpapers can be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth. For tougher stains, mix washing up liquid with warm water and lightly scrub the area with a clean cloth or sponge. Then rinse with another cloth and clean water, before finally drying with a clean towel.
